The Boston Celtics are your 2024 NBA Champions. Behind 31 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists from Jayson Tatum and 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists from Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, the Boston Celtics blew out the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 to win the 2024 NBA Finals, winning a record-setting 18th NBA title on the 16th anniversary of when they won their 17th championship in this same building. With the win, the Celtics finished the playoffs 16-3, second only to the 2017 Golden State Warriors (16-1) since the NBA went to four best-of-seven rounds of the playoffs in 2003. Kyrie and Luka just couldn’t get things going, and without them Dallas never stood a chance. This marks the 5th straight season with a new NBA Champion, dating back to the Lakers, Bucks, Warriors Nuggets, and now Celtics.

NBA Finals Matchup

(1) Boston vs (5) Dallas: Boston wins 4-1

Dallas has the best player in the series, but Boston has the overall better team. Luka and Kyrie have to play at their absolute best to give Dallas a chance.

(Game 1) Boston was on fire from 3 point range, and at one point in the first half doubled the Mavs up, 58-29. Dallas brought it to within 8, but the Celtics pulled away again.

(Game 2) Luka had his 7th triple double of the playoffs, but Kyrie struggled again, his second straight game of less than 20 points. The Celtics won this game by committee, with 5 of the 8 guys to play scoring in double digits. The Mavs could’ve pulled to within 3 in the final seconds, but the refs missed a crucial call on a PJ Washington dunk attempt.

(Game 3) Kyrie finally found his groove, but it wasn’t enough to take down the duo of Jayson and Jaylen. Boston takes a 3-0 series lead, which no team in playoff or Finals history has ever lost.

(Game 4) Dallas managed their first win if the series, and it was the 3rd biggest margin of victory in Finals history. The Mavs were in control from the opening tip and never looked back. They now face the impossible task of winning 3 straight games.

(Game 5) Boston outworked Dallas all night to avenge the embarrassment in Game 4. The Celtics were everywhere defensively, they crashed the offensive glass, and they moved without the ball to get easy shots. Boston is now the reigning NBA champion, will anyone be able to knock them off their throne?
