Jayson Tatum scored 36 points, including 10 in overtime after Jaylen Brown's tying 3-pointer with 6 seconds remaining in regulation, and the Boston Celtics miraculously for a 133-128 victory over the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals. Jrue Holiday added a season-high 28 points and Brown finished with 26. Tyrese Haliburton had 25 points and 10 assists and Pascal Siakam added 24 points and 12 rebounds. Myles Turner finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Pacers, who twice turned it over with a three-point lead in the final 30 seconds of regulation. Those mistakes were costly, as the second turnover led to Brown’s corner 3 that sent the game into OT, and from there it was all Celtics. Game 2 is Thursday night in Boston.

  • Joining DPOY Rudy Gobert on the 2023-24 Kia NBA All-Defensive First Team are Spurs center Victor Wembanyama, Heat center Bam Adebayo, Pelicans forward Herb Jones and Lakers center Anthony Davis. Wemby is the first rookie to be make the All-Defensive First Team. Bam has earned First Team for the first time after being a Second Team member in each of the last four seasons. Herb makes his All-Defensive Team debut. For AD, this is his third time on the First Team to go with two Second Team selections. The Second Team consists of Bulls guard Alex Caruso, Magic guard Jalen Suggs, Celtics guards Derrick White and Jrue Holiday, and Minnesota forward Jaden McDaniels. This is the second Kia NBA All-Defensive Team selection for both Caruso and White and the sixth for Holiday. Suggs and McDaniels are first-time members. 

  • Injury Updates: Kristaps Porzingis (calf) is still out indefinitely. Maxi Kleber (shoulder) is out indefinitely. Benedict Mathurin (shoulder) underwent surgery and is out for the season. We wish all these guys speedy and successful recoveries.

The Pacers proved they have the toughness to compete and win a series, but Boston is a different monster. Indiana has to be nearly flawless to win this series.

(Game 1) The Pacers had a chance to win after a great game, but a pair of turnovers in the final 30 seconds cost them the game.

Prediction: Celtics in 7

Western Conference

(3) Minnesota vs (5) Dallas: Series is 0-0

The Wolves have all the size to deal with Dallas on the interior and perimeter, but Luka is going to be a problem either way. KAT and Kyrie will be the X-factors for this series.
