Donovan Mitchell scored 30 points including a jumper with less than a second left and the Cleveland Cavaliers remained unbeaten with a 114-113 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. The 7-0 Cavaliers are one win away from matching their best start in franchise history. They won their first eight games in 1976. Milwaukee has lost five straight since winning its opener. The Bucks wasted a brilliant performance from Damian Lillard, who had 41 points with nine assists and shot 10 of 15 from 3-point range. Lillard had put Milwaukee ahead by hitting a step-back jumper with 9 seconds remaining. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 34 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists for the Bucks. The Bucks have continued to play without Khris Middleton, who hasn't yet made his season debut as he recovers from surgery on his ankles.
Buddy Hield scored 27 points and the Golden State Warriors squandered a huge lead before outlasting the Houston Rockets 127-121 in overtime. The Warriors led by 31 points in the first half. The Rockets tied it with an 18-2 run to open the fourth quarter. Golden State scored the first six points in overtime to make it 125-119 and went on to a third straight win without Steph Curry, who is out with a sprained left ankle. The Warriors led by five before a 3-pointer by Jabari Smith Jr. cut the lead to 119-117 with 15 seconds to go in regulation. Aaron Holiday stole the ball from Draymond Green and he fouled out a few seconds later. Tari Eason made two free throws after that to send it to overtime.

The NBA is investigating reports that Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid shoved a reporter after Saturday's game, as reported to ESPN's Shams Charania. Word broke about an altercation earlier Saturday when it was reported Embiid had assaulted a reporter. The reporter involved was confirmed to be Marcus Hayes of the Philadelphia Inquirer. The issue is a recent column by Hayes about Embiid's injury issues, which received widespread criticism for referencing Embiid's son and late brother. The column was written in reaction to Embiid not being ready for the season, with the Sixers saying it was a left knee issue.
Injury Updates: Joel Embiid (conditioning) will be re-evaluated later this week to see when he can make his debut. Paul George (knee) hyperextended it during the preseason, and will be re-evaluated later this week. Kawhi Leonard (knee) is out indefinitely, and his recovery might βtake longer than expectedβ according to the team. Kristaps Porzingis (foot) is still recovering from offseason surgery and will miss some games. Khris Middleton (ankle) will miss a few games. Isaiah Hartenstein (hand) will be re-evaluated in 5-6 weeks with a fracture. Dejounte Murray (hand) is confirmed to have fractured it and will miss a few weeks. James Wiseman tore his achilles and will be out indefinitely. Brandon Miller (hamstring) will be re-evaluated in 1 week. Stephen Curry (ankle) rolled it and will be re-evaluated on Friday. Taylor Hendricks (leg and ankle) suffered a fractured fibia and dislocated ankle and will be out for the season. Scottie Barnes (orbital) will miss at least 3 weeks with a fracture. Paolo Banchero (oblique) has a tear and will be out indefinitely, and re-evaluated in 4-6 weeks. Herb Jones (shoulder) will be out for a minimum of 2-4 weeks.
